Volunteer Requirements
The Willowsford South Waves operates successfully because of the support and dedication of parent volunteers from all families. Swimming is a volunteer-intensive sport and requires 30+ volunteers to run a meet as well as many behind the scenes!
Every family is required to complete volunteer obligations, which are tracked via a point-based system on our website. Each job is assigned a different point value, depending on the amount of time and effort it requires, and families accumulate points by volunteering for jobs on swim meet days or elsewhere during the season. The specific number of points each family is required to earn is determined each season based on the number of families on our team. For the 2026 season, we will release the point requirements in May. It typically is between 12-14 points. If your family only has a swimmer on Mini-Waves, the requirement will be less, but we do anticipate needing some assistance from Mini-Wave parents. This requirement will be finalized after registration is complete and communicated to parents on or before the mandatory parent meeting.
All jobs for which you can volunteer, with their respective point value, will be posted on the team website under the Meets & Events tab. The majority of our open positions will be posted for sign up in June.
It is our swim team policy that families who do not fulfill their volunteer requirements will not be in good standing, which prohibits them from registering for the swim team the following year. Each family will be invoiced $100 per unfulfilled point (e.g., 10 points outstanding would be $1,000). If you are unable to fulfill your family’s volunteer requirements, please address this with our Volunteer Director, BEFORE the start of the season. You can email her at [email protected]
